NEWSMEDIA, Colo. - The National Park Service's newest park, Rocky Mountain National Park, will be the "go-to" destination for guests traveling across the country this holiday season, according to the Friends of Rocky Mountain National Park (FoRMNP). The second-year park's involvement in the International Alpine Ski Congress (IASC) is the culmination of a concerted effort by the FoRMNP and its growing list of sponsors to make the park a top destination, according to the press release. "It's exciting to be part of the IASC," said Mark R. Fraser, director of the park, in the release. "We are already a top destination for skiers, climbers and other adventurers in Colorado, and this is our chance to put that to the test in an event that is attended by nearly 3,000 world-class athletes and 13,000 fans." With respect to the media, the IASC event is not "all about snow and ski resorts," according to the release. Rather, it is an opportunity to bring attention to the magnificent natural features that draw people from across the globe to this country to experience them firsthand. It was more than a concept; it was a vision," said Rike Nelson, president of the FoRMNP. "Our goal is to be the 'go-to' destination for recreational adventurers in Colorado, and the IASC is the latest step in our efforts to live up to that goal."
